Welcome to Willow 2026/2027,
Welcome back after a much needed rest! As a change from last year, Willow this year is now just Year 3.
Our topic until half term is The UK. Within this topic, we will be looking at some of the basics of geography (such as compass points), as well as how countries are organised into counties and regions. After half term we will be studying Ancient Britain!

In English, our teaching book is Seal Surfer by Michael Foreman, and our learning focus' for this half term are to build their vocabulary, to use prepositions to explain where, when, or why, and to start to use paragraphs. We will also be doing three handwriting and three spelling sessions per week.
For our Maths, we will be starting with place value up to 1000, and addition and subtraction. We will also be using a mixture of Numbots and Times Tables Rockstars to back up our learning. If done at home, these only need to be done for 15 minutes a day to support and develop their learning.
In RE, Willow are looking at the creation story and the impact of this on our lives and practice as Catholics.
In Science, we will be studying rocks, and how they are formed.
In PSHE we are using a new scheme called 'Jigsaw'. Within our first unit we explored setting personal goals, self-identity and worth, positivity in challenges, rules, rights and responsibilities, rewards and consequences, making responsible choices and seeing things from others’ perspectives. Within the next two units we will be looking at our dreams and goals and what it takes to be healthy.
