Reading
In year 1 your child will come home with books to read each week. These are Read, Write, Inc books- this includes the book that your child has worked on during phonics lessons at school in the previous week. They will also have a Book Bag Book- this book will be new to your child and will allow them to practice the previous week's phonics learning.

Once your child has finished Read Write Inc they will progress onto Accelerated Reader (this is usually in Year 2). They must read their book three times at home or school and then complete an online reading comprehension quiz before choosing another book.
Every week each child will be issued a Library Book from our Y6 librarians- this is a book for you to share with your child for enjoyment. Please keep these books in their school bag so we can change them when needed.
Below you will find a link to a virtual library. Click on the book to hear the story read aloud.

Maths home learning is changing and we will introduce this next half term.
Spelling
Please practise the common exception words below with your child at any opportunity. These are covered through the English curriculum as well as our spelling programme: Pathways to Spell. Year one can practise spelling through Fred talking the green and red words in their RWI reading book. Year 2 have spellings issued in a journal each week for them to practise at home.
